On behalf of the Cowichan Nation Alliance, Coast Salish Group has taken on a leading role in building relationships with industry and government with regards to large infrastructure projects.
Coast Salish Group (CSG) is the economic development agency of the Stz’uminus First Nation. CSG’s mandate is to help the Stz’uminus First Nation become a strong and self-sufficient Nation through economic development. CSG takes a triple bottom line approach to business, balancing social, financial and environmental sustainability.
The Indigenous Employment Hub (IEH) model is demand driven. It directly builds on labour needs for infrastructure projects in BC and links the training and recruitment efforts with these construction projects. As a result, job seekers have a clear picture of the opportunities available and what they need to do to take advantage of those opportunities. The IEH will continue to provide support during the placement of all First Nation workers.
The IEH Center will be based at Oyster Bay with all equipment and supplies needed. It is being developed so that a number of the training programs can be accomplished from a home computer online.
The IEH Team will provide a personal training program for each individual. The team will help all participants be successful through each course. There will be wrap-around supports to ensure we assist in the needs of all participants.
The IEH is based on a foundation of cooperation, partnerships and win-win outcomes. Success for all participants and the overall program will be assured based on this foundation. We have established agreements with Agencies, Training Centers and Industry Partners to identify the training courses for a number of projects with high paying jobs that are looking for skilled workers.
